The multicolour Kashmiri Aari embroidery — in shades of green and off-white, inspired by the wildflower motifs native to the Kashmir Valley — runs across the neckline and body of the kaftan. The coral red base makes every thread of embroidery more vivid than it would be on any other ground. About the Craft & the Artisans
Kashmiri Aari embroidery takes its name from the aari — a fine hooked needle used to create continuous chain-stitch motifs across fabric. The floral designs on this piece are drawn from Kashmir's natural landscape — its wildflowers, garden botanicals, and valley flora — interpreted by artisan designers based in the Kashmir Valley. The embroidery is produced in Kashmir and each piece is finished there, keeping the craft and its economic value rooted in the community that created it.

Returns
