Novbahar Royal Blue Kashmiri Kaftan with White Aari Embroidery
Description
Royal blue does not ask for permission. It occupies a room the moment it enters. The Novbahar Royal Blue Kaftan is the most graphic piece in the collection — white Kashmiri Aari daisy and fern motifs with black centres against a saturated royal blue base, a geometric chevron trim running the length of the V-neckline, and a bold sculptural neckline composition that spreads outward across the chest like a botanical illustration. This is the kaftan you wear when you want the piece to speak first.
Part of the Novbahar 2026 Collection by KashmirPheran — our celebration of Kashmiri craft in contemporary silhouettes — this kaftan is made in crush cotton, lightweight and breathable, carrying the depth of royal blue without heaviness across long days.
The embroidery is entirely in white with black accents at the flower centres — a three-colour design that creates a graphic precision specific to this piece. The neckline composition is the most architecturally spread of any kaftan in the Novbahar Collection — large daisy-like flowers, spreading fern and leaf motifs, and a pendant drop below the V — framed on both sides by a black and white chevron trim that adds structure to the neckline edge. Five individual daisy and leaf sprig motifs are scattered across the front body, each with the same black-centred flower detail. A single sprig sits at the centre back. The white scroll border traces the hemline and sleeve edges, completing the piece cleanly from every angle.

How to Style
For an evening occasion — pair with white strappy heels or silver sandals, silver statement earrings, and a white or silver clutch. Royal blue and white at night is effortless formality — the black-centred embroidery adds a graphic edge that makes this piece look as considered as a tailored outfit without any of the effort.
For casual daywear — wear with white sneakers, a minimal white or tan crossbody, and small silver hoops. Royal blue in daylight is vivid and confident — this kaftan needs no accessories to justify itself. Keep everything else simple and let the embroidery do what it was designed to do.
For travel — royal blue is one of the best travel colours — it photographs well against almost every background, pairs with white, black, tan, and silver accessories, and arrives without needing an explanation. This kaftan moves from a flight to a dinner without a change of outfit.
About the Craft & the Artisans
The black-centred daisy motif in this kaftan is a specific design decision — one that introduces a three-colour dynamic into what could have been a straightforward white-on-blue embroidery. The black centres create visual depth within each flower, giving the motifs a dimensional quality that flat single-colour embroidery cannot achieve. The geometric chevron trim along the V-neckline edge reflects the artisan's understanding of how structure and fluidity can coexist in the same garment — the trim anchors the neckline while the floral motifs spread freely beyond it. These design choices were made by artisan designers in the Kashmir Valley, where embroidery is understood as a complete design language, not just decoration. The embroidery is produced in Kashmir and each piece is finished there.
At KashmirPheran, we believe Kashmiri craft belongs in a modern wardrobe — graphic where it needs to be, fluid everywhere else. The Novbahar 2026 Collection is our contribution to that.
