In the depths of Kashmir’s Wandeh, there’s no greater luxury than the winter sun, the Aftaab. When it breaks through, the whole Valley steps outside to feel its warmth. Wandeh Aftaab is that golden hour, made to wear: a mustard-gold pheran that glows like sunlight on snow, with matching trousers.
Every motif is hand-worked in Sozni. Delicate paisleys, the beloved badaam of Kashmiri craft, are scattered across the chest and sleeves like sunlit petals, gathering into a grand ornamental paisley at the centre. From the hem rises a flowing blossom vine, a climbing bel of tiny flowers in crimson, rose, blue-grey and ivory, each stem drawn freehand by the artisan’s needle. A multicolour braided border frames the split neckline, and the trousers carry a matching touch of embroidery at the hem.
Relaxed in cut, with side slits and two discreet pockets, Wandeh Aftaab brings warmth and light to the greyest winter days, as a set or with the pheran styled on its own.
