On a winter night in Kashmir, when the gardens lie hidden in darkness, the flowers have not gone; they are only waiting. Shab-e-Gul, a night of flowers, is the moment they bloom in secret. Wandeh Shab-e-Gul holds that hidden garden on a pheran of deep velvet black.
Its Aari embroidery is worked in soft, faded tones of dusty rose, mauve, sage and taupe, like flowers seen by lantern light. A garland of lotus blooms frames the split neckline and ends in a mauve chinar leaf. Across the lower front, rows of tall chinar butas rise from pairs of tiny paisleys, like cypress trees lining a moonlit garden path. Dusty-rose floral trails trace the cuffs, pockets, slits and hem, and a single buta rests at the back of the neck.
Muted, romantic and timeless, Wandeh Shab-e-Gul is a companion to Wandeh Pari Mahal, made for winter evenings and quiet celebrations.
